IN THE HEART OF SLOVAKIA
In Horehronie in the heart of Slovakia, you will be welcomed by the mountain recreation village of Donovaly, spread over the place where the mountains of Veľká Fatra, Low Tatras and Starohorské vrchy meet, with ski slopes in the winter season, attractions and beautiful nature during the summer vacation. This important tourist center of the tourism industry is located approximately 23 km north of Banská Bystrica and lies at an altitude of over 900 meters.
In winter, Donovaly becomes a paradise for skiers and winter sports lovers. 17 ski slopes and 11 km of great groomed tracks, evening skiing, adrenaline winter sports and other additional services in the form of ski schools, ski rentals and lots of fun for children in the FunPark await them. Záhradište (suitable for beginners and intermediate skiers) and Nová hoľa (slopes for intermediate and advanced skiers). The resort’s modern transportation facilities guarantee speed and comfort, the dominant features of the location are the combined 6-seater cable car with 8-seater cabin TELEMIX Nová hoľa, 4-seater Buly Expres Záhradište, as well as 14 other lifts with a total capacity of up to 14,100 skiers per hour. There is also the Mišúta ski lift with a blue slope, which is located near the parking lot.
In the part of Mistríky, between the two ski slopes Nová hoľa and Záhradište, there is also the largest children’s Fun Park in Central Europe on an area of 10,000 m2. There are 9 sliding strips, a carousel and experienced instructors available. In the area of the resort, it is a matter of course that there is a ski and snowboard rental shop, a ski and snowboard school that caters to beginners and, of course, to those who want to improve their style. After a good day of skiing, you can relax in one of the hotel’s wellness centers.
If you visit Donovaly in the summer season, you can engage in hiking, cycling, paragliding and other summer activities, of which there are more and more due to the constant development of the resort. In recent years, new cycling routes have been built in Donovaly, so this recreation area has become the center of cycling tourism in the surrounding region. 42 cycle routes with a total length of up to 375 km within the Donovalský cycle offer small as well as large circuits in the nearby area that can be completed on mountain or road bikes. If you prefer hiking, the area around Donovaly offers you a network of footpaths that will take you towards the Low Tatras, to the Veľká Fatra National Park, or to the old mining village of Staré Hory, which is a place of pilgrimage. You can see a nice view from Nova hoľa, where you will be taken by a chair lift and a cabin lift.

THE BIGGEST CHILDREN’S FUN PARK IN CENTRAL EUROPE.
Fun Park in Donovaly is one of the largest ski amusement parks for children in Slovakia and is the largest in Central Europe. It is located in the Mistríky area between the Nová hoľa and Záhradište ski slopes. Children who are just learning to ski, as well as children who are looking for fun, will have a great time. There are 9 sliding strips and a carousel driven by a motor, which is an integral part of teaching. In addition to skiing, children can participate in various competitions, games or ride a train. Trained animators and children’s mascots take care of the program. There are several attractions to offer. Toboggan bobsleigh track approx. 900 m long with 11 turns and 7 adrenaline jumps. You determine the speed yourself by controlling the brake lever (max. 45 km/h). A rope park 500 m long with various obstacles of difficulty at a height of 2 m above the ground and for children the educational Myšiačik children’s park. A flowing stream connects various activities here, such as a children’s rope park, irrigation regulation, rafting on a pond, building dams and a water playground. You can jump on the trampoline and bungee trampoline or rent an electric scooter and enjoy the freedom of movement and the joy of riding. You will definitely not forget the time spent in nature, in the Fun Arena full of attractions and adrenaline, and you will be happy to come back here again and again. The amusement park is open from April to November.
HABAKUKY FAIRYTALE VILLAGE
The fairytale-fantasy village is located in a beautiful natural environment, in Donovaly near Banská Bystrica. The houses are as if cut out of the famous fairy tale book by Pavel Dobšinský with well-known heroes of folk tales – Laktibrad, Popolvár, Zlata Priadka and others. The environment of the fairy-tale village, which is full of magical stories and fairy-tale creatures, invincible heroes, and craftsmen, will ensure an unforgettable experience not only for small but also large visitors. The multifunctional area even includes the department store “Kúrnik šhopa senter”, the Svetozár Stračin museum, the local “Hodovňa”, but also an animal farm with goats, a peacock, a cow or goose, as well as swings, climbing frames, a playground and others. Here you can see demonstrations of folk crafts, interactive theater performances and other interesting events. The village also has its own currency, which can be used to pay for refreshments and souvenirs.
The fairytale village is an ideal place for family and school trips or organizing company meetings. Donovaly is usually accessible by car or bus. Parking is possible directly at the fairy-tale village, or in the main parking lot approx. 6 minutes away. by foot. The program in the village takes place during the months of the summer season from mid-May to the end of the summer holidays. Habakuky are located at an altitude of 950 m.a.s.l. therefore we recommend warmer clothes.

CHILDREN'S CAPITAL CITY
An interactive town like from a fairy tale will immediately put a smile on your face, but especially your children. This fun town is located in the beautiful environment of the Low Tatras, in the Donovaly region.
The capital of children, as it is called, fulfills children’s dreams. A number of creative and fun activities are prepared for children. The town has 23 houses, which are smaller and ideally fit into the children’s world. In it you will find a cinema, a hospital, a gingerbread house, a fire station, a car service, a gas station, a mini farm with animals and many other activities. For little or big girls, there is a sitting and baking session with Snow White and Cinderella.
Authentic costumes are also prepared for small visitors. Entertainment is provided by animators, and while the children play, parents can relax in peace. Either directly in the Donovalkova area or near the town in Patty’s bistro with a coffee. Donovalkovo is also an ideal place for birthday parties for children in a fairy-tale style, even with an animation program.

ON THE DONOVALY
Skialpinism enthusiasts can use 3 marked ski routes in Donovaly.
- Route A (red route) partly copies the red summer tourist route to Zvolen. It starts in the center of the village. Its length is 1.9 km with an elevation of 417 meters.
- Route B (yellow route) leads to Zvolen and Nová hoľa via the saddle Prípor. It starts in the center of the village. Its length is 3.4 km with an elevation of 417 meters.
- Route C (blue sign) leads from the Pod Magurou section past the Patočiny buffet to the Zvolen hill. The length of the route is 4.2 km and the elevation is 466 meters.
If you do not have equipment available and you are interested in trying skialp or snowshoes, they can be rented in the rental office in the central parking lot. At the same time, you can also rent ice skates and go to the ice rink.

Paragliding (X-air adventure)
Adrenaline and unforgettable experience in the form of tandem skydiving. This daring adrenaline experience starts with a professional briefing and takes place at a height of up to 500 meters above the ground. It offers beautiful views from a bird’s eye view. The flight takes approximately 15 minutes with an instructor. The jump or flight takes place throughout the year, depending on weather conditions and the operation of the cable car. The price of the flight includes equipment, insurance, instruction, complete equipment, preparation of equipment and folding of equipment after landing. There is also the option of a 6-day course, which ends with a final exam and the possibility of obtaining a pilot’s license.

Riders Park
Riders park is located between the part of Mistríky and Poliana. An obstacle course is available for experienced skiers and snowboarders. The obstacles are arranged from the easiest to professional obstacles. Everyone can choose the ride that suits them.
ICE RINK
The ice rink is ready for all those who love winter fun. The rink is located right next to the Telemix Nová hoľa cable car station. It is available free of charge daily from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with artificial lighting, of course, only in case of favorable weather.
CROSS-COUNTRY IN THE DONOVAL AREA
In addition to skiers and snowboarders, cross-country skiers will also enjoy themselves. Several popular cross-country trails start from the center of Donovaly:
- Donovaly – Sachtička: length 14.1 km, medium difficulty;
- Polianka circuit: length 2.8 km, easy difficulty;
- Močiare circuit: length 5.9 km, easy difficulty;
- Schachtička – Izbica: length 6.5 km, easy difficulty.
